Great news to share recently in which on behalf of Governor Jim Pillen and Anthony Goins, Director of the Department of Economic Development, it is a pleasure to announce that back on March 27, 2023, they informed Pender Economic Development and the Village of Pender and their application for the Rural Workforce Housing Land Development Program had been approved in the amount up to $1,000,000 for workforce housing land development within the qualified census tract (QCT) in Pender.
This $1,000,000 will be utilized towards the new housing development in Pender, the Roberts Addition which will be out near the new sports complex. Footings and dirt work for this new housing edition will begin sometime this April on the first set of four new houses.
The Village of Pender and Pender Economic Development (PCD) will be responsible for carrying out the terms of the Subaward including any state or federal regulations that directly pertain to the grant. All awards will be managed in the Department’s electronic grant management software system. The department congratulates the Village of Pender on obtaining this Rural Workforce Housing Land Development conditional award.
Pender is beyond thrilled for the opportunity to secure this funding award. We, as the Village of Pender, look forward to actively working with all parties involved in carrying out this important project, which will help the future growth of Pender.
